Bvlgari Eyewear

Company History
Born as a descendant of ancient family of silversmiths, the founder Soritio Bulgari was destined to become a great jeweller. The name of the company, Bvlgari, derived from the founder’s name Sotirio Bulgari however in Greek the letter ‘U’ is written as the letter ‘V’. Sotirio began as a jeweller in a small Greek town. In 1884, Sotirio left Greece to move to Rome, Italy. Only a few years after his move, Sotirio had already owned a number or silver and antique stores that were very successful.

His stunning cuts of precious stones and exquisite jewels drew people from all over the world to visit his stores and purchase his products. The founder later expanded his company and product portfolio with his sons by designing a range of jewellery and time pieces. The Greco-Roman heritage continued to have a strong influence over the design of the brand's jewellery collections.

Eyewear Collection
When Sotirio's sons took over the company in 1984, the company diversified even further into accessories and perfumery. The first perfume was created in 1992 and soon followed a collection of silk scarves and eventually eyewear in 1997. The eyewear collection was designed to reflect the jewellery collection.
