The Story
Substitute the letter ‘V’ for the letter ‘U’ and you’ll know how to pronounce the name Bvlgari. Sotirio Bulgari (born Sotirios Voulgaris) was from Greece. He left his hometown to travel to Italy in search for work and better living. This was a company that was started by one man and his mission for delivering his customers beautiful jewels. He opened his first jewellery store in Via Sistina, Rome.

Brand Expansion
As the company grew, so did the need for expansion and diversification. The brand later expanded into perfumery, accessories including eyewear and watches, and even hotel spas and resorts. Bulgari, the founder was a descendent of ancient Greek silversmiths; this means that jewellery-making was in his blood. It was more than simply a career. In 1997, the brand's first luxury eyewear collection was launched. The brand's eyewear designs are influenced by Greco-Roman themes; this gives the eyewear that classic, Italian renaissance appearance.

The Eyewear
Luxury, quality, and craftsmanship should be the three words to describe the brand’s eyewear collection. Life for a Bvlgari frame starts off on paper as design templates. The selected gems are then assessed before being approved to ensure the jewels enhance the appearance of the frames. With luxury designer eyewear, it can take up to months to create a single pair. Every gem and jewel is inlaid by hand and the frames are made by talented Italian craftsmen. After the eyewear is created, it is put through strict quality tests to ensure that customers are receiving the highest quality products without fail.

"Le Gemme"
The 'Le Gemme' collection the latest range produced by the brand. In the women's range, the collection features a range of optical glasses and sunglasses made from precious metals such as gold, and gemstones such as amethyst, sapphire, mother of pearl, and citrine. In the men's range, the Bvlgari glasses and sunglasses are masculine and modern. The detailed frame arms have a sleek, fashionable appearance.
