Starck Glasses

About The Designer
Philippe Starck is the founder of Starck Eyes. His father was an inventor and aeronautical engineer; we can see where Philippe got his creativity and imagination from. Philippe is a designer; he has designed several architectural projects as well as restaurants and hotels. His designs always incorporates three fundamental elements; ecology, function, and ergonomics.

Starck was keen on ecology and sustainability long before it became a necessity or fashion trend. He opened an organic food company to motivate consumers to buy organic products, and more recent he developed the 'democratic ecology' concept where by he creates affordable wind turbines for the home, as well as functional hydrogen cars and solar-powered boats.

Starck Eyes Optical
Designer, Philippe and the optical group, Alain Mikli got together in 1996 to launch the eyewear collection. The eyewear collection consists of ergonomic designs that revolutionises the way we wear glasses. The movement of the frame arms resemble that of the clavicle (shoulder joint) in the human body. The frame is able to flex more than conventional spectacles, thanks to the screwless hinges on the frame arms.

At FashionEyewear.co.uk, Starck glasses can be bought with free prescription lenses or dummy lenses. If you have a prescription, it is advisable to buy the frames with the dummy lenses so you can try them on before adding your prescription. If you have already tried the Starck frames on then place your order online and ensure you've added your prescription correctly. As it is your responsibility to double-check your order; if you've entered your prescription incorrectly we cannot be held liable for your mistakes. Refunds and exchanges cannot be made against prescription eyewear.

Organic Acetate
All of the Starck glasses are produced from cellulose-acetate. Cellulose-acetate is a premium type of plastic that is derived from processed wood pulp. This special source is used mainly in eyewear production as it has great properties that eyewear requires such as strength, deep gloss finish, and high transparency. Cellulose-acetate has 'natural' feel making it the perfect material for eyewear.
