About The Brand
Fashion designer, Paul Smith, was born in Nottingham, UK in 1946. Smith actually aspired to become a professional cyclist however due to an incident this dream was no longer in his reach. During his hospital recovery, the designer made friends with people from the nearby arts college and was soon introduced to the hip, bohemian art scene. From then, Smith knew that he wanted to be a part of the arts industry. In 1976, Paul Smith displayed his first clothing collection in Paris which received positive comments.
The Eyewear Collection
A few years after, the designer set up several London stores before expanding worldwide. The company later expanded their product portfolio to include perfumery, toiletries, accessories and eyewear. The company’s first eyewear collection was launched in 1994 by the licensed producer and distributor, Luxottica. Staying true to tradition and classic British style, the company’s collection of apparel and accessories really shows off its English heritage and craftsmanship.
Paul Smith sunglasses are made from premium materials sourced from Italy, France and England so expect high-quality products. Every item is produced either in the UK or Italy, nowhere else. The sunglasses collection for men consists of classic and iconic designs such as aviators, wayfarers, brow-line styles. The sunglasses collection for women consists of retro-inspired designs that are modern yet still quite classic. Cat-eye, over-sized round and over-sized square styles are popular models from the brand’s collection.
Personal Touches
Smith himself still designs for the brand and is the chairman of his Ltd Company. As many designer brands grow, the designers can sometimes become detached from their collections so by working closely with his brand, Paul Smith offers his consumers a more ‘personal’ touch. When not at his Nottingham home designing the latest collections, the designer keeps himself busy by collaborating with other artists or creative groups/individuals and getting involved with charities.
