The History of Chloe
French Fashion house Chloe was originally founded by Gaby Aghion in 1952. This leading luxury brand has remained at the top of the fashion hierarchy since it was first created. Gaby Aghion combined modern femininity and boho chic in an innovative Parisian style.
Born in 1921, Gaby Aghion moved to Paris in 1945, bringing luxury ready-to- wear with her. Ready-to-wear wasn’t available in the 1950’s, instead the rich bought new clothes from haute couture tailors and the less wealthy had local seamstresses to copy the luxury trends. Gaby Aghion brought the ‘luxury pret-a-porter’ (luxury ready-to-wear) to Paris creating a new shopping experience.
Chloe has seen some of the most iconic names in the fashion industry take the role of Head Creative Direction. From the founder Gaby Aghion to Karl Lagerfeld who joined in 1964 as head designer moving on to Creative Direction until he moved to Chanel in 1983. Replacing Lagerfeld was Martine Sibon, followed by the 25 year old Stella McCartney who was appointed Creative Director just after her graduation from Central Saint Martins in 1997. Stella went on to grow her own label in 2001 leaving Pheobe Philo to take the reins – succeeded over time by Clare Waight Keller and Natacha Ramsay Levi.
Chloe’s Parisian, feminine aesthetic is represented in not only the ready to wear but also in her eyewear collection. Accessories are just as important to the Chloe brand as their garments, with some of their most iconic staples being bags and eyewear.
At Fashion Eyewear we pride ourselves in stocking the most luxurious brands which have a story behind the collection. See by Chloe is one of our bestselling collections and each frame represents the history behind the brand. Below are our favourite frames in both optical and sunglasses.

You may have spotted the Bonnie on the Fall Winter runway 2019. This 70’s inspired frame combines a strong spirit with femininity through soft lines creating an infinity loop. The Bonnie is complete with gradient, light brown lenses and Chloe’s signature drop-shaped opening so you can add your own eyewear jewellery.
A unique feminine square frame with distinctive thick bevelled lenses which are exclusive to the Rosie Collection. This style comes in a number of shapes: heart, circle, flower and square. The Rosie lenses feature a gradient coral hue to add a sense of elegance to the oversized frame. Chloe temples have finer detailing; fitted with exclusive engraved filigree pattern. This luxurious detailing can be complemented by eyewear jewellery.
Our modern octagonal Chloe frame is the Willow fitted with rounded ages. The gradient brown lenses enhance the retro vibe which complements the honey temples that reveal a bespoke, gold toned core wire catching the light.
The Carlina is an iconic Chloe frame with glamorous retro vibes. The Maison’s iconic Carlina sunglasses portray a feminine, fluid mood of the time. Available as sunglasses and optical glasses the Carlina comes in a signature styling and the Carlina twist. The spiral feature is inspired by chain jewellery design, entwined around the lenses in a sphere shape, the frame catches the light effortlessly. To add to the vintage illusion, the Carlina is finished with a light brown lens.
An innovative Chloe optical frame. Again, designed in an octagonal silhouette with softened lines the Palma has 70’s connotations as well as a modern aesthetic. The frame is created in a gold metal structure which is a flattering fit, especially for small face shapes. The luxurious frames are finished with finer detailing. The temple tips reveal a delicate marble pattern paired with the Chloe drop shaped opening for eyewear jewellery to be added.
