RayBan first made sunglasses in 1937 for the US Air Force. Bausch & Lomb were approached by a US General and were asked to design a new pair of sunglasses, that were sophisticated and stylish but also protected his eyes, from damaging against the sun. The aviators were made and fitted in with these demands and remain a true icon in the eyewear and fashion world. The brand then brought us another icon, the Wayfarer in 1952. This was a brand new design, taking advantage of the plastic revolution, using acetate for the entire frame.
