More than 6 in 10 people wear glasses in the UK and with digital technology becoming an everyday essential for most, the average age people start to become dependent on glasses is becoming lower and lower. Whether you think glasses are an essential accessory or see them as a nuisance, we all want to feel good wearing them, knowing our specs are flattering us and match our look. The first step in buying a pair of glasses which make you feel good is knowing your face shape and which glasses suit it. This blog will be specifically focusing on glasses that suit a long face shape if you aren’t sure what face shape you have you can read our blog here which will help you identify the different features of different face shapes.
What is a long face shape?
A long face shape could be round, oblong, diamond or oval-shaped - your proportions are just a little longer. here are certain styles you can wear to balance out these features: square glasses, two-toned glasses, thick-framed glasses or aviator glasses.
Square glasses are a bestseller this year, especially the oversized square frames. Luckily for you, this trend is a flattering choice that will suit your face shape. The angular features of square glasses help balance out and complement your face shape.
Top tip - go for an oversized fit that is slightly wider than your cheekbones to make your face appear broader rather than longer.
Thick frame glasses
These frames create a bold accessory, drawing focus to your eyes, which evens out your facial features, by adding width to your face shape. Acetate frames are usually thicker than metal frames, so we recommend this material for long face shape.
Top tip - thick acetates are also popular in the geek chic trend. If this is your sort of style, thick acetate frames are the glasses you need - check out our Oliver Peoples collection.
A forever staple, the aviator frame will never go out of fashion and is a must if you have a long face shape. If you are after a pair of glasses that will allow you to feel good and prepared for every occasion, shop the aviator frames. We have a large range of aviator styles, from metal vintage styles to luxury Cartiers and classic Ray-Bans. Aviators are popular in sunglasses as well as optical frames too!
Top Tip - Make sure your aviator fits snugly across the bridge of your nose and your eyes are situated in the centre of your lenses.
Ombre glasses are a fashion must-have. Also known as two-tone glasses, they have been soaring in popularity. Ombre glasses are usually acetate and the colour of the frame which fades from one colour to another. Usually, the bottom colour is always lighter, sometimes even transparent. The top colour draws the eye into the top half of your face, especially towards your eyes, creating an optical illusion. Top tip - Cutler and Gross have a large selection of ombre glasses and with thick acetate frames!
